by Dr.P on 10.25.2009 10:07 pm
The Revolution is coming...and you do not want to miss it!

Company Overview: dosquared was founded in 2005 as "delta omega squared", to change the resistance of the online world. Now, the Revolution that is dosquared is being reborn - as a community of gamers from all medias, types and genres.
dosquared is a subsidiary of CPProductions, a web development firm founded in 2002.

Mission: To be the best possible online community for gaming of all medias, types and genres.

Products: None - yet!

Official Website Launch: December 1st, 2009

Some of you may or may not have noticed the new links in my sig, so here's the official announcement: dosquared.com is nearing official launch. With it, this forum will be migrating to newly upgraded forum for the new site.

Unfortunately, due to technical incompatibilities, your current accounts/posts will not be transferred to the new forum. You will have to re-register to continue to use the dosquared services.

On the bright side, the overall dosquared experience should be vastly improved. The forum itself has been updated with the newest version of the phpBB3 (3.0.5) software - compared to the out dated and unsupported phpBB2 (2.0.22) software currently still running this forum. After the launch of the new site, this forum will remain available for reference/viewing only; posting will be disabled. It will remain that way for a period of one (1) year, after which the database will be backed-up to an offline location and this forum will be taken down.

I currently cannot say all of the features that will be available at launch date; simply because certain features will be released as the user-base grows.

There are current plans in motion to have users submit detailed reviews of new/up-coming games, and possibly even interviews with developers. If this becomes popular, then I will also look into finding a popular/opinionated reviewer to post a blog on the site as well.

For each of a selected group of "dosquared supported" games (YGO will be included in this), there will be teams formed - mostly casual, but if interest allows it, competitive teams will be added later (henceforth know as "Premiere" teams).

If discussions go well with Sponsors, there is likely to be a Ventrilo server available for online chatting/gaming groups - more info on this (and the possibility of other gaming servers) will be added later.

Finally, to keep the community interested (partially sponsor related), there will be contests for different games/prizes. This has not been fully added to the business plan, so similar to the last point, more info will be added later.

There are many other ideas that are being discussed currently - but in the mean time, I want to get some feedback from the loyal Team DOS community. How do you feel about this forum migration and the new direction dosquared will be taking? Do you have some good ideas that could help this community succeed? Post whatever you want, initial reactions, etc. You can even write a novel about it - I will read it and take all serious posts into consideration.

Thank you for your time and continued support,
~Dr.P

Important: Changes to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
by Dr.P on 07.28.2008 8:17 pm
SYNCHRO MONSTERS: White Synchro Monster cards are a powerful new kind of monster! Synchro Monsters go in your Extra Deck (see below)—they do not go in your Main Deck. In order to Synchro Summon a Synchro Monster, you need 1 Tuner Monster (look for "Tuner" next to its Type). The Tuner Monster and other face-up monsters you use for the Synchro Summon are called Synchro Material Monsters. The sum of their Levels is the Level of Synchro Monster you can Summon.

To Synchro Summon a Synchro Monster:

  1. You need to have a Tuner Monster and 1 or more non-Tuner monsters face up on the field
  2. Make sure the Levels of the monsters you want to use add up exactly to the Level of Synchro Monster you want to Summon.
  3. Send the Tuner and the other monsters you are using to your Graveyard.
  4. Special Summon the Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck!

RULES CHANGES: With the introduction of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and the new Synchro Monsters, a few simple rules are being changed. These changes are effective on Monday, August 11, 2008:

  1. Your Main Deck must be between 40 and 60 cards. In addition to the 40-card minimum, your Main Deck now has a maximum size limit of 60 cards. Remember, it's usually best to stay close to the 40-card minimum so you can draw and use your strongest and favorite cards more reliably.
  2. The Fusion Deck is now called the Extra Deck. It can be between 0 and 15 cards. Not just for Fusion Monsters anymore, you will also include the new white-framed Synchro Monster cards in this Deck. The Extra Deck still uses all the same rules as the Fusion Deck. You can include up to three copies of a card in your Extra Deck.
  3. Your Side Deck can be between 0 and 15 cards. It no longer has to be exactly one or the other. After each Duel in a match, you can swap any card from your Side Deck with a card from your Main Deck to customize your strategy against your opponent. The number of cards in your Side Deck before and after you swap any cards must be exactly the same. In a tournament, for example, if you registered a seven-card Side Deck, then you must have exactly seven cards in your Side Deck before each game in the match, before and after swapping cards.
  4. "Multi-Trigger" Effect Monster effects are now called "Quick Effects." This is a change in terminology to help players better identify and understand this category of monster effects. There are no rules changes to how any cards are played. The new term, Quick Effect, better describes the defining characteristic of these monster effects.

Hi all -

I just wanted to let everyone know that we updated the Appendix A (for Yu-Gi-Oh!) to the Official Policy Document to include some upcoming changes and legality dates for booster releases. You can always download the most current version of Appendix A here:

http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/COMMUNITY/files/28/english/category1004.aspx

A summary of the changes:

1- Changed all instances of "Fusion Deck" to "Extra Deck" and added references to Synchro Monsters where there were only Fusion Monsters.
2- Maximum main Deck size is now 60 cards. Minimum remains at 40.
3- Maximum Extra Deck size is now 15 cards. Extra Deck still follows appropriate Forbidden/Limited List restrictions.
4- Multi-Trigger Effects of Monsters are now called "Quick Effects." This wasn't specifically called out in the Policy Document, since it's not a "policy" but am adding it in this post for completeness.
5- Side Decks will not be changing. They will remain at either 0 or 15 cards, and a Side Deck in-between shall not be permitted in Sanctioned Tournaments.
6- Other terminology for Tributes and Tribute Summons will not be changing. They will continue to use the word "Tribute"
7- Legality dates for the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Starter Deck and Premium Pack 2 have been added.
8- Legality date for The Duelist Genesis has not yet been added, but it will be legal for local tournaments on the date of the Sneak Preview. The date for legality in Premier Events has not yet been finalized but will be added soon, at which point a new version of Appendix A will be uploaded to the web site.

I think that just about covers all the questions that people might have. If I missed something I will add it in.
